Bob, Rose and Mia, their Princess 21 metre
We have now arrived in Adelaide, staying at Holdfast Marina. We left Blairgowrie last Tuesday, staying the evening at Queenscliff, and then travelling 150 nautical miles to Port Fairy, or 10 hours travelling time @ 18 knots. Conditions were poor with very rough seas and around 20 knots of wind on the nose, unfortunately our friends Bob & Jenny were sea sick most of the way.
We stayed in Port Fairy until Friday waiting for conditions to settle. The attached photo is Mia moored in the Moyne River at Port Fairy. We enjoyed the town, playing golf, walking the town, checked out the restaurants and pubs and drank, yum, yum.
We departed Port Fairy at first light and headed for Robe, about 170 nautical miles east. However, this run was much better and we averaged 21-22 knots and arrived about 3.00 pm. Topped up Mia with 3,000 litres, found The Caledonian Pub, had a great meal and back to the marina.
The Marina is poorly dredged so we could not depart until the tide came up, at 10.00 am, then we set off on another 170 nautical mile run to Holdfast Shores, in the heart of Glenelg. This was a dream run, calm and warm, all the way. We averaged 23-24 knots, and docked at 6.00 pm, sitting back to enjoy Roses' famous Spag Bol.
My good friend Malcolm organized the berth for us, and he was there to show us the marina. It was very hot and though we are not used to it, the boat aircon worked really well. We looked around the town this morning doing some shopping and then met up with some old friends. We are off to a fish restaurant on the wharf tonight, and the I have a rush trip tomorrow for a meeting in Melbourne then back Wednesday night.
We will do the wineries when I get back, and do the touristy stuff for the rest of this week, then head off to Kangaroo Island and Port Lincoln next week for about 10 days, returning back to Adelaide then home at the end of the month.
What a wonderful trip.
Regards
Bob, Rose and Mia.
